Description
Fritz Activated Carbon is manufactured under a special, patented, high-pressure steam activation process that produces superior pore space throughout each individual granule. Made from bituminous coal, Fritz Activated Carbon is the most effective type of carbon for all purpose filtration. Its ratio of large (macro) and small (micro) pores make our carbon ideally suited for adsorbing a wide range of dissolved compounds. Each ounce of carbon contains over 300,000 square feet of usable absorptive surface area.
Fritz Activated Carbon will not leach phosphates or phenols and will not alter pH. A harder form of carbon than peat, lignite, and coconut shell carbons, it is more resistant to crumbling. Fritz Activated Carbon contains less than 2% moisture by weight. This helps make Fritz carbon a greater value as customers are not paying for water (added to softer carbons to reduce dust and increase profits).
The incredible amount of surface area in Fritz Activated Carbon is ideal for colonization by the
nitrifying bacteria necessary for ammonia and nitrite conversion in wastewater treatments. .
Fritz Granulated High Quality Carbon is an acid washed 4 x 8 or 12 x 40 mesh activated carbon produced from bituminous coal by a high temperature activation process under stringent quality control. Fritz uses a special, patented, high pressure steam activation process that produces superior pore space throughout each individual granule. The Carbon is then washed in Hydrochloric Acid to reduce water and acid soluble compounds and improve purity. This treatment creates the porosity by leaving a carbon skeleton “sponge.” It has a large surface area (each ounce contains over 300,000 square feet of usable, adsorptive surface area), high mechanical hardness, high pore volume and chemical stability.
Fritz Granulated High Quality Carbon is certified and exceeds purity levels set by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) / National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) Specification 61 for human drinking water. Fritz Granulated High Quality Carbon exceeds EPA Arsenic standard for safe drinking water of 10ppb, rated at 3.6 ppb of Arsenic or less. Effectively removes phenols, chlorine, pesticides and herbicides that are toxic to livestock and wildlife.
