Humic Acid FAQ
What is Humic Acid?
Humic acid is a product of nature often found in quality concentrations of Leonardite. Leonardite is a natural and relatively rare product in nature. The material is usually a brown/black coal-clay substance found in isolated locations. Humic acid’s makeup consists of an extremely complex structure of hydrocarbon bonded carbohydrates, amino-acids, phenols and minerals that are formed as an end result of plant and animal, ancient and modern, cellular decomposition. This material is often referred to as the “essence of soil” and is usually the first material to vanish in improved, tilled or disturbed soils. Once properly applied to soil, Fritz 100% soluble Humic acid transforms humic deficient- poor quality soils into valuable production soil. Crops planted on improved soil normally yield higher production (20%-50% on average), grow larger and have deeper root systems which helps the plant to resist unfavorable conditions such as frosts or drought, flower faster and have more blooms, hold water better, resist diseases and decrease the amount of nitrogen fertilizers used in some cases by up to 60%. Humic improved soils yield billions of friendly microorganisms such as earthworms, bacteria, fungi and other microorganisms that help to improve the health of soil structure.
Humic acid has a high molecular mass (approximately 1500) and is fairly insoluble as a mined product. Insoluble Humic acid (mined material) is incredibly useful in agriculture applications but because mined material is insoluble, large quantities must be used in order to realize the extraordinary benefits of Humic material. Until recently, Humic acid applications were not always a feasible alternative to modern-day chemical solutions but thanks in part to the work conducted at Fritz Industries, nearly everyone can partake of the extraordinary benefits of 100% soluble Humic acid enhanced soils.
Is Humic Acid a new product?
No, knowledge of the benefits of Humic acid have been with us for more then 100 years. During these 100 years, generations of farmers have come to realize that soils are a limited resource and once exhausted are nonproductive. Humate treatment is an effective remedy to help restore infertile soil.
How can Humic acid work for me?
For more than 100 years, this country has been blessed with deep rich soils that are full of humic material. Though the years, intensive crop production has worked to starve these once rich soils of their Humic material and many areas have been transformed into an unproductive condition. Humic acid applications are the restorer of the soil essence. Once applied and with continued application, once productive and then nonproductive farms can thrive once again. Plants grow larger, stronger and yield more production. Flowers produce more and with a greater intensity of fragrance. Trees and crops resist diseases and soils better retain water.
